Yoga Nidra
- Free, Yoga Powernaps, 5 or 10 minutes in duration by Bhaktipoornananda. A great way to relax even on the busiest of days
- You can't go wrong purchasing the recording www.satyananda.net/shop/view/yoga-nidra-and-meditation-swami-satyananda which is led by the inventor of Yoga Nidra, Swami Satyananda himself. He has a lovely strong voice, and this is a very deep and timeless recording
- For a free 10 minute Yoga Nidra try Dr Philip Steven's version (Swami Samnyasananda) http://www.yogalinks.net/yogalinks/downloads.html
- For an inexpensive yoga nidra app by a lovely male yoga teacher in Perth go to www.yoganidra.tk You get three versions of yoga nidra, 10, 20 and 30 minutes long with the option of adding background ambiance sound
- You can also download an MP3 or buy a CD from Shankardev, who is a wonderful yoga teacher and doctor (again male, in case you are looking for a masculine voice) www.bigshakti.com/shop/guided-meditations/meditation-and-yoga-nidra
- I personally like Archana's version www.satyananda.net/shop/view/relax-and-unwind which is very relaxing. She has a very gentle female voice, and uses heart based visualisations
- If you are undergoing any treatment then this CD would be fantastic www.satyananda.net/shop/view/yoga-nidra-during-treatment-cd
- And lastly, check out remaining yoga nidra CD's on the Satyananda Yoga website www.satyananda.net/shop/browse/audio/satyananda-yoga-nidra-and-meditation
Apps
- My favourite timer for use during meditation is called 'Insight timer'. Set how long you want your meditation session to be, add any interval bells, and start! Download this app on to your phone via iTunes
- Try out the Progressive Alarm clock which uses gongs to wake you. You can set a progressive pattern of gong sounds over a given time period using the golden ratio to gradually but surely bring you out of sleep in a supportive way
