I am trying to embrace slow and simple living. Last week I had a visit from the flu who is a very good teacher of back to basics! So what has the flu taught me:

- rest is really quite delicious
- slowing down means there is time to enjoy the uniqueness of the people around me. There is time for simple delightful conversations about nothing which make me feel part of a bigger collective
- love and intuition can flood in when I am vulnerable
- the mind makes me more busy than necessary. It gets very active when I am slow and quiet - like a naughty baby monkey when the mother won't feed it
- it is a vicious cycle - being busy makes me feel insular, so I do more things to feel more connected
